The new generation of dashboards uses between 30 and 50 clips per vehicle, and there are many different mechanical stresses on these clips.

Perceived quality:
The clips must fasten all the components together tightly and must not generate any noise when the vehicle is moving.

Safety
As everyone knows, cars are today fitted with several airbags. When an airbag inflates upon impact, the fastened components must not come off from the dashboard in order not to injure the vehicle’s occupants.

Ergonomics
There are between 30 and 50 clips on each dashboard and they are mounted manually. Ergonomic rules must therefore be complied with and mounting made more straightforward.

The development teams at ARaymond have devised and patented a new solution that meets all these constraints.
The innovation lies in the concept based on jaws that are activated during the first assembly of the vehicle.
With this idea, the clip can be pushed into a smooth plastic surface using the mounting forces linked to final assembly (these can be called hidden forces)
Once the clip has been stuck into the plastic, it is firmly fastened and does not move below the dismounting forces required.

In concrete terms, the mounting forces on the dashboard panel are less than 3 kilograms.
The mounting forces of the various components of the dashboard panel are less than 7 kilograms.
The dismounting forces are more than 9 kilograms.
The slack caused by the clip is close to 0 even after it has been assembled and disassembled six times and after a sunlight test.

ARaymond has established an optimised process that is a combination of productivity and quality to meet the high demand for this new type of clip.
